In June, we had the pleasure of visiting the EGOCMS editorial team in the picturesque town of Radebeul. After the successful annual conference in Mosbach, this was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere and explore the beauties of this historic town together. Accompanied by our three children and our faithful company dog Yaki, we enjoyed a weekend full of culture, history and nature.
Our stay in Radebeul
Arrival and first impressions
Our stay began in Altkötzschenbroda, a charming neighbourhood of Radebeul with narrow streets and historic buildings. We met the editorial team there, who gave us some valuable tips for our visit. Immediately afterwards, we set off to explore the surrounding area.
Hiking and historical sites
Radebeul is known for its beautiful hiking trails and historical sites. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and set off on a hike through the idyllic landscape. A particular highlight was the climb up the tower of the Friedenskirche church, from where we were able to enjoy a breathtaking view over the town and the surrounding vineyards.
Another unforgettable experience was taking part in a cemetery tour. This unusual but fascinating tour gave us an insight into the history of the city and its inhabitants. Surprisingly, our children also had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about local history.
Karl May Day
The next day was dedicated to Karl May, one of Germany's most famous writers, who is closely associated with the region. After visiting his grave the previous evening, we visited the Karl May Museum. The museum offers a comprehensive insight into the life and work of the famous author and is a must for any literature fan. Our children were particularly enthusiastic about the exhibitions on the adventures of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand.
In the evening, we rounded off the day at Schloss Wackerbarth. The baroque wine estate is not only an architectural jewel, but also a place of relaxation and enjoyment. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the delicious wine while the children explored the extensive gardens.
Closing with a musical
Before we left the next day, we had another special experience: we went to see the musical "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" live at the original venue, Moritzburg Castle. In glorious sunshine, it was the perfect end to our weekend. The musical not only delighted the children, but also the adults, and we were all thrilled by the beautiful backdrop of the castle and the captivating atmosphere.
Conclusion
Our visit to Radebeul was far more than just an excursion - it was an invitation to experience culture, history and nature with all our senses. The town inspires with its mixture of historical treasures, idyllic vineyards and warm hospitality. Anyone looking for relaxation and inspiration during their holiday will find the perfect place here to recharge their batteries and discover new things - whether it's a hike with panoramic views, a visit to the Karl May Museum or an atmospheric musical evening at the castle.
We would like to thank the editorial team for their valuable tips and can only recommend them to everyone: Pack your bags and be enchanted by Radebeul - a destination to remember.
